One of the main reasons I’m running this blog is to discover new music and artists. So I can proudly present to you ZETA99. The Italian duo answered some questions to let you know more about them. LM: Hey guys, I’m glad to have you for this little interview. Please give my readers a little introduction about the persons behind ZETA99.
ZETA99 is a duo of producers and DJs from Italy, Davide and Nico. The project was founded one year ago with the intention to create something new. We have been working on other projects in the past so it’s not our first collaboration.
LM: First, sorry for this [maybe] stupid questions, but I’m wondering about the name “ZETA99”. What is it all about?
The story of the name is quite simple. We always felt the last. Z is the last letter on the alphabet and 99 the last number before 100. To be honest once we were touring in Italy and we saw a beach that was called Zona99. We thought it was a good name so we chose to use that name for our new project.
LM: How do you guys come together to start this project? And do you have the same musical background?
As mentioned before, we have been working on other projects together in the past. So one day we decided to give life to another project, leaving behind the old stuff in order to get some fresh air. Both of us are fans of electronic music but we come from different styles. Davide has a background in punk / new wave music and studied in University of Fine art, while Nico comes from the scene of Free Partying and studied at Conservatory of electronic music.
LM: To my shame I have to admit that I’ve missed your first EP called “Radial/Ulnar” which was out on Fake Blood‘s Blood Music earlier this year. Tell us something about. Did you send the demo out only to BM, was it that simple?
The story is quite funny. A friend told us that Fake blood made a charts for Dj magazine in which ours track was included, so we got in touch with him saying thanks and we took the advantage to let him listen to our new tracks from ZETA99 project, Theo (Fake Blood) showed immediately interest in our works and proposed us to publish those tracks for his label.
We are truly honored about this.
LM: I’m really in love with “Crop“, and thanks a lot for this free download. But I want to hear more, so what are your plans/releases for the next months? Give us some secrets!
For the moment we are working on the next Ep that will be out on October/November for Blood Music, that’s all for now 🙂
LM: I’m also really curious about the producing process if two or more persons are involved. So how is it with you? Did you have some “originality” in the way you make your music?
We work mostly together in the studio, normally one of us has an idea and from that idea we start working on together.
I guess that’s pretty normal, right?
LM: Where can we see you playing in the next weeks?
We have no gigs till sept/oct. Just because now Davide is living in Berlin for the summer while Nico is living in italy.
