The West in Dust label is a collaborative endeavor between two genuine electronic music devotees—Dave Reep (a man responsible for multiple production outfits including Elephant & Castle) and music writer/producer Glenn Jackson. Deeply rooted in Oakland, California’s burgeoning scene, West In Dust is the pair’s humble attempt to further champion quality electronic sounds, focused on artists that are inventive and forward-thinking while not losing touch with what makes music enjoyable.
The forthcoming debut label comp, West In Dust 2012, showcases the corner of the music world one can expect to hear from the imprint, with 14 tracks of mood-tinged productions taken from the stonier side of bass music. The roster is an international collection of producers, some of which whose names have been bubbling in underground circles, and some of which appear for the first time on this release, but all of which have caught the label’s ear with unique takes on the post-everything aesthetic.
